Who meets in our building

Some of these are ours. Some belong to the wider community and simply meet under our roof. All of them are open, and none of them require you to be a member of anything.

Where
Fellowship Hall
Who it is for
Open to everyone in the community

Chair & Balance

Gentle exercise for stronger legs and steadier footing.

A low-impact class built around a sturdy chair. Every movement can be done seated or standing, so you set your own pace and stop whenever you want to.

The goal is simple and practical: keep your balance, keep your strength, and stay on your feet. Bring water and wear shoes you can move in. There is no fee and no commitment - come the weeks you can.

When
2nd Sunday each month, 10:00 a.m.
Where
On the lake - call the church for this week's location
Who it is for
Any believer or curious neighbor, any church background

Community Bible Study at the Lake

Neighbors from across the lake, one open Bible.

This study belongs to the whole Toledo Bend community, not to one congregation. People come from several churches and from no church at all.

We read a passage together, talk about what it actually says, and work out what it means for the week ahead. No homework, no prior knowledge assumed, and nobody gets called on to read out loud.

When
Wednesday of each week, 12:00 noon; Thursday of each week, 7:00pm
Where
Fellowship Hall, side entrance
Who it is for
Anyone with a desire to stop drinking

This is an independent group that meets in our building. The church does not run it and does not sit in on it.

Alcoholics Anonymous

A room in our building, open to anyone who needs it.

AA meets here every week. The group runs itself - our part is to keep the lights on, the coffee made, and the door unlocked.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. Nobody from the church sits in, and nothing said in that room comes back out of it. Use the side entrance; you do not have to talk to anyone on your way in.

When
Mondays, 7:00 p.m.
Where
Classroom off the Fellowship Hall
Who it is for
Anyone affected by someone else's drinking

This is an independent group that meets in our building. The church does not run it and does not sit in on it.

Al-Anon

For families and friends of problem drinkers.

When someone you love drinks, it changes your life too. Al-Anon is for the husband, the wife, the parent, the grown child - the people carrying it from the outside.

The group meets at the same hour as AA, in its own room, and follows the same rule about anonymity. You are welcome whether the drinker in your life is getting help or not.

Need a room?

Our building is a community building

If your group needs a place to meet in Hemphill, ask us. We have hosted recovery groups, studies, workdays, and meals, and we would rather the building be used than sit empty.
